A Look Back At 2023

As we bid farewell to 2023 and take a look back on the year, I can't help but feel amazed at how quickly time has flown by. Where did the year go?

In taking a look back at this year, I can't believe everything that has come to fruition. First, we started the year by launching two ventures — MoodRXtreats and Cannamood Apparel. Later in the year, we launched this blog, The Moodment. Truly, it has been an exhilarating experience to see these projects take flight, but it has also served as a reminder of the rigorous hard work that startups require. Indeed, considerable effort is necessary to refine and perfect a product or service. While I worked hard to refine MOODRXtreats retreats this year, I plan to continue refining these cannabis retreat experiences.

Moodporium

As we take a look back, I'm pleased to share that Moodporium has maintained its commitment to providing customers with top-quality wellness products. Interestingly, Moodporium caters to two distinct customer groups. First, we cater to those seeking to numb their minds and have fun (think replacement of alcohol). And then, we cater to those exploring the health benefits of microdosing. At Moodporium, I am always working on continually trying to bring new products to our customers that cater to those two specific types of groups.

Learning to surrender

In taking a look back at this year, I cannot help but think of my father, who suddenly passed away in late October. His untimely death has left a lasting impact on me. Even today, I continue to work through my grief. The word surrender keeps echoing in my mind — to let go of my preconceived notions of how the year should have gone and what the future holds. The day after our last retreat, he asked me about my business and what 2024 looked like while driving him to the hospital for a minor procedure that he never left when a stroke took his life.

Here's the truth about owning a small cannabis business

Let me be honest: owning a small business is no mean feat. If I were to give anyone advice on starting one, it would be to ensure they have a genuine passion for what they do because it demands everything from you. In particular, if you venture into the cannabis industry, brace yourself for a rough ride with issues such as banking, social media restrictions, and stereotypical notions of what an entrepreneur should look like in this field. I've come up against all these roadblocks, but it's taught me to never back down.

What comes next?

In taking a look back at 2023, I feel inspired when I look ahead to 2024. I am thrilled to expand all our ventures in the new year. I already have a lot up my sleeve. In 2024, Moodporium is getting an upgrade to the website to help grow our online sales. MoodRXtreats will focus more on wellness and community, which I'm very excited about. With Cannamood Apparel, we plan to broaden our reach through wholesale distribution and partnerships with platforms like TikTok Shop. We will also introduce a podcast and establish a paid community through The Moodment. Really — the sky is the limit.

New year, new

Yes, 2023 was challenging. But my 16-year-old says you learn through challenge. So, I will take what I've learned in 2023 and see where it takes me in the new year — challenges and all. I love you all and hope you have a blessed end of the year surrounded by the ones you love.
