Cannabis Trends We'll See in 2024 (In My Humble Opinion)
As the cannabis industry continues to grow and evolve, it's essential for consumers and businesses alike to stay ahead of the curve and anticipate upcoming cannabis trends. One of the things I've used since opening Moodporium is Flipboard (yes, I am a geek) to keep a daily pulse on over a hundred RSS feeds that I have curated. And because of that, I am excited to bring you the 2024 cannabis trends I see taking the industry by storm.
With legalization spreading across the United States, the cannabis market is expected to reach new heights in the coming years. So what can we expect this year? In this blog post, we'll explore the top five cannabis trends for 2024 that I see in the year ahead:
Cannabis Trend #1: Cannabis-infused beverages
Innovation in cannabis consumption methods is a rapidly growing trend that shows no signs of slowing down in 2024. As the cannabis industry continues to expand and evolve, consumers are demanding new and innovative ways to experience the benefits of cannabis. One major cannabis trend we can expect to see in 2024 is the rise of cannabis-infused beverages.
Beverage options are endless. Whether it's a refreshing CBD-infused sparkling water or a calming tea infused with CBN for better sleep, there is something for everyone. These cannabis-friendly beverages offer a convenient and discreet way to consume cannabis, making them appealing to a wide range of consumers. And with doses per drink ranging between 2mg-50mg, you can get a slight buzz, or you end up like Frank the Tank streaking down the street. It's all up to you and with one drink.
According to data from IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, the no/low-alcohol beverage market exceeded $11 billion globally in 2022, and they project 25.4% growth in non-alcoholic offerings in the U.S. alone through 2026.
I see cannabis drinks with more extensive distribution next year going mainstream. I recently read an article that a liquor store in Chicago is selling them. We carry them in our store (check them out here). I've been to a bar in WV that ONLY sells cannabis drinks. It's going to catch fire next year, and honestly, I can't wait because it's my favorite way to consume! Bring on all the seltzers, teas, and drinks, and throw out that alcohol.
Cannabis Trend #2: Microdosing
So, I see microdosing growth next year with the rise of acceptance of cannabis use and interest in consuming smaller, controlled doses for medicinal and everyday use.
Let me fill you in if you're wondering what that word even means. Microdosing involves consuming very low amounts of cannabinoids, such as Delta 9, CBN, CBD, or CBG, to experience the therapeutic benefits without feeling overwhelmed or experiencing any psychoactive effects. This trend is prevalent among individuals seeking relief from anxiety, stress, or chronic pain, as it allows for a more subtle and manageable experience.
One of the main advantages of microdosing is that it allows individuals to maintain their daily routines while incorporating cannabis into their wellness regimen. Whether it's taking a few drops of CBD oil in the morning or consuming a low-dose edible before bedtime, microdosing provides a convenient and discreet way to benefit from cannabis's potential therapeutic properties without interfering with daily activities.
In 2024, I see more products hit the market, such as low-dose capsules, low-dose strain-specific edibles, and tinctures. These products will cater to the increasing demand for personalized cannabis experiences and offer individuals the ability to customize their dosage according to their specific needs.
Overall, microdosing will continue to gain popularity as more individuals recognize the benefits of consuming small, controlled amounts of cannabis. Whether it's for relaxation, pain management, or to enhance well-being, microdosing provides a gentle and accessible entry point for cannabis consumption.
Cannabis Trend #3: Social Clubs and Communities
In my opinion, we can expect to see a significant rise in the popularity of social clubs and communities as a top cannabis trend in 2024.
With the growing acceptance and legalization of cannabis, more people are looking for ways to connect with others who share their passion. Whether attending cannabis-themed events, participating in group discussions, or joining online communities, these social clubs offer a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Hello, enter MoodRXtreats - we're already ahead of the curve with our cannabis retreats.
But it's not just about socializing and having a good time. Cannabis social clubs also play an essential role in education and advocacy. Many of these clubs are dedicated to promoting responsible cannabis use, providing educational resources, and fighting for cannabis legalization. They are spaces where individuals can learn from experts, exchange knowledge, and stay updated with the latest developments in the cannabis industry.
Overall, the rise of cannabis social clubs and communities in 2024 represents a growing desire for connection, education, and advocacy within the cannabis community. So whether you're looking to make new friends, learn more about cannabis, or join like-minded individuals to push for change, these social clubs offer a platform to do just that. Embrace the power of community, and let's continue to grow together in the world of cannabis.
Cannabis Trend #4: Mainstream use of CBN for sleep
It's estimated that sleep disorders affect between 50 and 70 million people in America. That includes conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy. And when we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, a whole night's rest doesn't come easy or at all - there's a need. These numbers aren't going away either.
In 2024, one of the most significant cannabis trends in the industry I see will be the use of CBN for sleep. As more research is conducted on the various cannabinoids found in cannabis, it's becoming clear that CBN has potential benefits for improving sleep quality. Unlike THC, CBN is non-psychoactive, meaning it won't make you feel high. Instead, it has a soothing effect that can promote relaxation and aid in falling asleep.
Many turn to traditional sleep aids like melatonin, but these can come with unwanted side effects and may not be effective for everyone. CBN offers a natural alternative to help regulate sleep patterns without adverse side effects. By incorporating CBN into their nighttime routine, individuals struggling with sleep issues may find relief and achieve a better quality of rest.
From tinctures to edibles, the variety of CBN products will grow, specifically designed to promote better sleep. So, if you're one of the millions suffering from sleep disorders, keep an eye out for the rise of CBN in the cannabis industry. It could be the natural solution you've been searching for to get a good night's sleep.
Cannabis Trend #5: Mood-based products
People want to pick products by ease and specifically by mood. I have seen this in the last four years and even on large-brand cannabis websites. One of the exciting cannabis trends that we can expect to see this year is the development of products based on mood. Cannabis companies are recognizing the importance of catering to individual needs and preferences, and what better way to do that than by offering products that align with specific moods?
Imagine being able to choose a cannabis product that enhances your mood, whether you're looking for relaxation, focus, or creativity. With the advancements in research and understanding of cannabinoids and terpenes, companies can create tailored products that provide the desired effects.
For instance, if you're feeling stressed or anxious, you might look for a cannabis product that contains calming terpenes like linalool or myrcene. On the other hand, if you need an energy boost or want to enhance your creativity, you might opt for a product with uplifting and refreshing terpenes like limonene or pinene.
By aligning cannabis products with specific moods, consumers will have a more personalized and enjoyable experience. Whether you're seeking relaxation, focus, or any other desired mood, the future of cannabis will offer a wide range of more sophisticated options to suit your needs. Get ready to enhance your well-being in a whole new way.
The future of cannabis is bright
While I don't have a crystal ball, I am fairly certain these cannabis trends will carry the industry through 2024. Whether all these predictions come true or just a few do, I know this year is going to change the cannabis industry forever.
